Semana santa (Easter)

La Semana Santa es uno de los acontecimientos mas importantes de Sevilla. Se celebra en la semana del primer plenilunio de la primavera. La Semana Santa de Sevilla es la más importante de España y tiene una resonancia internacional en todo el mundo católico. 
Esta semana abarca desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta el Domingo de Resurrección, procesionando cada día imágenes representando la Pasión de Cristo, hasta alcanzar el número de 60 hermandades.
Los nazarenos son las personas que acompañan al paso durante la estación de penitencia portando velas, cruces o algún elemento distintivo de la hermandad a la que pertenecen. Se diferencian de unas hermandades a otras por el color de sus vestimentas.

Además de los nazarenos, hay más personas que hacen todo el recorrido, y lo hacen debajo del paso. Los costaleros son los hombres que llevan en su cuello el peso del paso, llevando a algunos a soportar pesos de hasta 60 kilos sobre sus hombros.
Algunos pasos van acompañados por bandas musicales, que tocan melodías a base de tambores,cornetas y más instrumentos (oboes,flautas,bombos,platillos,trompetas...)
La carrera oficial es el tramo por el cual pasan las cofradías y que deben hacer para llegar a la Catedral. Este tramo oficial discurre por el centro de Sevilla ( desde la Campana hasta la Catedral) y no se puede entrar en ella sin pagar un abono para ser dueños por unos dias de una silla que le permitirá gozar de las mejores vistas de la Semana Santa.
                                                  
Algunos vecinos cantan saetas a las imágenes desde los balcones de sus casas. Cuando alguien canta todo el mundo se mantiene en silencio para poder oir el sentimiento con las que son cantadas las saetas. 
Muchos sevillanos empiezan la cuenta atrás para la semana santa del año próximo, una vez que finaliza la de ese año. En Sevilla 1 de cada 2 personas es hermano de alguna cofradía y es una de las ciudades donde el fervor religioso es mayor, transmitiendose de padres a hijos.

The Nazarenes are the persons accompanying the ''step'' (paso) during the season of penance carrying candles, crosses or some distinctive element of brotherhood to which they belong. They differ from each other brotherhoods by the colour of their clothing.
                                                                 

There are more people doing the tour, and they do below the pass. The bearers are the men carrying the weight on their necks passage, leading some to support up to 60 kilos on his shoulders.
Some steps are accompanied by musical bands, playing melodies based on drums, horns, oboes, flutes, drums, cymbals, trumpets....)
The official race is the section trough which pass the fraternities and they must do to reach the Cathedral. This official section runs through the center of Seville (from La Campana to the cathedral) and can not get into it without paying a subscription for owners for a few days to a chair that will allow you to enjoy the best views of Easter. 
Some neighbors sing ''saetas'' to images from the balconies of their homes. When someone sings everyone keeps quiet to hear the sentiment with which the bolts are sung.

Many seville begin the countdown to Easter next year, once it finishes that year. In Seville one of two people is ''brother'' of a fraternity and is one of the cities where religious fervor is greater, passed from parents to daughters.
